H-BC Elementary School Families:
Today students dressed up as their favorite book characters & had fun with reading in the dark. Staff Joined in as well! Thank you Mrs. Bush & Mrs. Ellingson!
Thank you greatly to Mrs. Durst, Mr. Rauk and all HBC Paraprofessionals! They are instrumental with our deep cleaning on early dismissal days! Very much appreciate them and the work they are doing!
Tuesday, March 2-- Is Read across America Day and Dr. Seuss Birthday. Students may wear a hat to school day and we will have DEAR time.
Mid-Quarter- 3rd Quarter was ½ way completed on Wednesday, February 24th. 4th and 5th grade teachers will send mid-quarter reports home soon. Good time to check in with your child’s teacher to see how your child is progressing.
Birthday Treats- Reminder: At this time, students cannot share birthday treats/snacks. H-BC Elementary PTO does provide classroom treats for each birthday.
Lego Robotics- 4th & 5th graders that registered for the Lego Robotics will begin this Tuesday, March 2nd - 3:20-4:50. The program, coordinated through Rock County 4H, will run Tuesday/Thursday for 3 weeks.

Elementary Basketball Camp: The Camp, for 4 year olds through 3rd grade, continues this week Saturday, February 27 for those students who registered. We are limited to only students and coaches in the gymnasium.

The Minnesota Energy Assistance Program (EAP) can help
Too many low-income Minnesotans have to choose between paying their energy bill and other necessities - food, medicine and healthcare. Minnesota’s Energy Assistance Program offers eligible residents help to pay their energy bills so they do not have to choose between life’s necessities. Spread the word.
Energy Assistance Program (EAP) facts
§ Renters & homeowners are eligible.
§ Assets such as the home are not considered in determining eligibility.
§ Grants range from $300 to $1,600, based on household size, income, and fuel cost.
§ The average grant is about $550.
§ In addition to the initial grant, additional Crisis funds are available to:
- Help pay a past due bill or get an emergency fuel delivery.
- Help homeowners get their broken furnace repaired or replaced.
How to apply for EAP
§ Households contact their local EAP service provider to apply for EAP.
§ Households find their EAP provider:
- By calling 1-800-657-3710 & entering their zip code, or
- On this list of service providers by county or tribe at https://mn.gov/commerce/consumers/consumer-assistance/energy-assistance/eap-provider.jsp.
§ 29 local EAP service providers including Community Action Programs, counties, tribal governments and non-profits serve all areas of the state.
